Kings of War - Elves vs Dwarves 650pts

Tonight my Daughter and I played a (roughly) 650 pt game of Kings of War. We kept the lists as simple as possible as we squeezed the game in before dinner. The armies were as follows;

Dwarves
1 Berserker Lord
1 Half-Regt of Berserkers
3 regiments of Ironclad
1 Troop of Ironwatch

~~~~
Elves
1 Elven Prince
1 Regiment of Palace Guard
1 Regiment of Spearmen
2 Troops of Bowmen
1 Troop of Stormwind Cavalry
We decided to play to the last man/unit standing, and after we rolled of initiative my Daughter got us underway.
An Overview of the battlefield. Elves to the Left, Dwarves to the right.
Sienna's Berserker Lord!
Cant have a Berserker Lord without some Berserkers can we??
The Dwarven Ironclads roll forward, slow and steady
The Elven Palace Guard hold the ranks and absorb the Berserkers frenzied charge!
A centre view of the battlefield. As the battle rages on, units begin to accumulate damage.
The Berserker Lord charges the Elven Prince, only one will walk away from this.
The fierce melee rages on!
The Victor! The Berserker Lord absolutely butcher's the Prince. A devastating final attack ends the clash!
The Stormwind Cav smash into the flanks of the Ironclad, wiping them out in a single (well rolled) charge.
The Cavalry follow up with another charge  crashing into the Berserker Lord. He manages to hold strong and route the already battle worn Cav.
Once the Lord turned his attention back toward the Elven lines he knew it was all but over. In that very moment the sky was blackened with arrows, and then silence....
Battle Masters!
After a pretty lazy Sunday morning the kids decided it was time to pull out a household favourite.. It was time to play some Battle Masters!
My son decided to play the forces of evil and commanded the Army mixed with Chaos, Orcs, Goblins and Beastmen. Leaving my Daughter to command the "the nice goodies" (The Empire).
 A shot from above
The black beast eagerly watches on awaiting its next victim.
The Cannon proved to be the unit of the game. Bouncing off many evil heads (and thus inflicting a wound) on its way to destroying an impressive 4 units before it met its demise by some Champions of Chaos.
A close finish saw the Evil army push across the river and attack the last 2 units from the Empire. In a final struggle the Halberdiers and Crossbowman were able to hold off and defeat the last of the vile invaders and return home victorious.
It was an awesome way to fill the afternoon.
I've also been adding a few bits and pieces to my Chaos Space Marines for Warhammer 40k. I went to a local Cash Converters (pawn shop) looking for a Nintendo Gamecube controller, when i stumbled across an exciting find. There in the window, still in shrink-wrap was a copy of Dark Vengeance, the current box set for Warhammer 40k. Here in Australia this sells for $165 so I was very quick to grab this one which was selling fore a mere $30. Happy days! First thing I've started on is the Helbrute, an awesome looking model which i'm eager to paint and add to the horde!
A bit of green stuff on this bad boy then a coat of paint and he'll be ready to unleash hell!
High Elves - Prince on Griffon
I forgot to add these photo's the other day with the other High Elves;
The newest member of my HE army is the High elf Prince mounted on a Griffon. The figure is from the Island of Blood set.
High elves are on hold for a short while now as I need to work on some Saxons for my Brunanburh project and also need to get some skaven done for my son.
High Elves - Swordmaster Unit.
Here's my fresh Swordmaster Unit, all figures are the Island of Blood ones. I picked the figures up dirt cheap off eBay along with some other IoB stuff  (both High Elves and Skaven). The IoB stuff always seems to go really cheap on Oz eBay, I guess maybe because they're mostly 1 or 2 piece mini's they dont lend themselves to conversions... Suits me fine!
Island of Blood Mage
I had a camera issue last month which prevented me from posting anything new to the blog. The camera is fixed now and I have started to take some snaps to add here over the next week or so.
I've been working on a few different projects with good progress made on the Saxons, High Elves and some Flames of War.
More pictures to come this week.
Skaven Unit
A unit of Skaven Clanrats for my sons army.
I'm thinking the Island of Blood Box set might be a good idea as i can use the Skaven for the young Bloke and the High Elves in my army plus the small rulebook will be handy because the big one is just over the top in size and price...
High Elves!
A few shots of my High Elf Army. It's a Nagarythe themed army, based on forces that were in Malekith's command but didn't join him when he turned against his brethren, instead staying loyal to Ulthuan and fighting against him.
This Army was a small force that i picked up from a nice chap in Melbourne and am slowly beginning to add units to (now that i have some more time up my sleeve!) Rick was kind enough to send me through a detailed list of how he painted his units so that i could match mine up and keep the theme going.
 I still have Phoenix Guard, Sea Guard, another Spear Unit and some Shadow Warriors to add, aswell as another 1 or 2 bolt throwers.... I'm also considering some Lion Chariots.
 Army Commander
 Spear Unit flanked by Swordmasters and White Lions
 Swordmasters
One of two 20 man Archer Units
 Ellyrian Reavers
 Army Shot (a few units off the table)
Sabot bases will be made for the entire army as I plan on using it for Hostile Realms, Basic Impetus Fantasy as well as Warhammer down at QNK. I've not had much experience with actually playing Warhammer since around 6th edition so i'm kind of looking forward to taking this Army for a spin.
Warhammer Skaven
After we (the family and I) recently moved home to Queensland from Victoria we sadly discovered a whole box of wargaming figures and terrain went missing..A massive chunk of my Dwarfs, my Son's Skaven and Imperial Guard and a number of other things all vanished. My Son really liked his Skaven so we've decided to rebuild. Thanks to a recent birthday gift from his Great Uncle we've got a nice start to the new Army. Here's a few shots of his new Packmaster with Rat Ogres. He was also given a unit of clanrats which i just need to base up and do the movement tray.
Cheers,
Nate
Iron Warriors
Heres a few snaps of my WIP Iron Warriors army for Warhammer 40k. This particular project is more or less a side project i add to very sporadically. I’m not really trying to build anything too competitive, just whatever takes my fancy really. Warhammer 40k is one of the more popular games down at the Northern Knights so i intend to grab a couple of pick-up games in the not so distant future. I generally use the most basic techniques when painting; drybrushing and using washes. This would have to be my favourite way of getting tabletop quality miniatures ready to play in a reasonable amount of time. This may not be “the best” way of painting and i’m admittedly not the greatest when it comes to a steady hand, but i find its good enough for my taste. (beats gaming with undercoated/unpainted minis anyday!)
I’ve got a unit of 10 Marines on the Assembly table that i’m going to split into two groups of 5 Chaos Chosen. I’m just trying to scratch together a few more Melta-guns at the moment, then onto the painting table.
